Ellie George, AmeriCorps VISTA Outreach Coordinator at Community Markets
Inc., is currently serving a year long term of service through West
Virginia’s Promise, The Alliance for Youth. She was born and raised in West
Virginia, and is dedicated to improving the lives of residents in any way
that she can. She discovered her love of direct service through a long
history of volunteerism and AmeriCorps service, and has taken on her role
at Community Markets Inc. to support the mission in a long-lasting way.
Prior to her beginning with CMI, Ellie served a year as an AmeriCorps State
member with the Potomac Valley Audubon Society in Charles Town, WV, and she
now serves as a volunteer at PVAS programs and preserves. Ellie applies a
variety of her personal interests and experience to her work at CMI,
including photography, creative writing, and community engagement. Ellie
holds a Bachelor’s in Chemistry with a minor in English from Shepherd
University, and plans to pursue certification in nonprofit management.
