Food Box Giveaway Program

One Giveaway is held each month at locations throughout the Panhandle. Food bags contain locally-grown staple items. Donations of shelf-stable food or gift cards to local grocery stores are welcome. Contact ellie.george@communitymarketsinc.org to be added to the volunteer email list.

Local Food Access Program

Preorder online and pick up at the St. Isidore Market each Thursday evening in Charles Town, WV. Cash, card, and SNAP are accepted at the market. Vendors interested in becoming part of the market may contact mark.peiffer@communitymarketsinc.org

Our Impact – Past Events

The inaugural Community Markets Food Box Giveaway was held in September 2022 at Saint James the Greater Catholic Church in Charles Town, WV. The program has grown to serve hungry Appalachian families in 10 counties in West Virginia. Here is some of CMI and our partners’ impact:

  • Partners include Saint James Catholic Church, Harpers Ferry Job Corps, and Priestfield Pastoral Center
  • Sept 22 Giveaway: Received Six (6) pallets of Fresh Produce from First Fruits Farm
  • Purchased Local Food from Four (4) Local Food Businesses; Food Sourced from WV and PA Farmers
  • Supported Three (3) Local Businesses
  • Jan 23 Giveaway: City National Bank Ranson Collected Food in their Lobby
  • Jan 23 Giveaway: Chick-fil-A Ranson provided Hot Breakfast for Volunteers
  • Jan 23 Giveaway: Orr’s Farm Market Donated Ten (10) Bushels of Apples
