John Meeker, AmeriCorps VISTA Communications Specialist at Community Markets Inc. (“CMI”), is serving a year-long term of service through West Virginia’s Promise Youth Alliance. John first came to West VIrginia to attend Shepherd University in the late 1980’s and never left. Throughout a 30 year career in numerous technology startups and online education ventures, public service has always been central to his daily life. John served as President of Shepherdstown Planning Commission, President of Shepherdstown StreetFest, Chair of Shepherdstown Parks and Recreation, and on the board of Shepherdstown Shares. John is excited to continue his food justice journey by helping CMI expand markets for local food producers and deliver safe, healthy and local foods for everyone.
