WV State Senator & Delegates Use LEDA Funds for CMI Trailer
Community Markets Inc. (“CMI”) is grateful for West Virginia State Senator Patricia Rucker (R-16) and five WV State Delegates who together raised $14,000 last year to finish funding CMI’s mobile cold storage trailer.
During the 2024 legislative session at the West Virginia State Capitol in Charleston, Mark Peiffer, CMI Operations Manager, was invited by Senator Rucker to come speak about CMI’s mission and impact to elected officials representing the Eastern Panhandle of WV. Local Economic Development Assistance (LEDA) funds were requested during the visit, resulting in $14,000 being donated which completed CMI’s fundraiser to buy its new trailer.

“CMI is very grateful to Senator Rucker and each Delegate for donating much-needed funds, allowing for the purchase of the trailer which has already delivered healthy, WV-grown food to thousands of hungry West Virginians around the Mountain State,” Peiffer stated. “Without the mobile cold storage trailer, CMI simply couldn’t operate at the level of impact that we currently do. LEDA funds from our elected officials were key to the success of CMI’s trailer fundraiser.”

Community Markets Inc. is grateful to West Virginian elected officials who use their LEDA funds to support farmers and agriculture in West Virginia while ensuring that food insecure and underserved Appalachian families are fed with healthy, WV-grown food.

A special thank you to the elected officials who donated LEDA funds to CMI:
